D&D Classic in Covington, Ohio hosted its Eighth Annual Classic Cruise-In on Saturday, May 19, 2012 - an event that honored our military veterans and those who continue to serve. All proceeds from the Cruise-In went to the Mission Flight For Veterans in Miami County.
The Cruise-In was held from 10:00am to 2:00pm at D&D Classic on Mote Drive in Covington. The event was open to the general public, car enthusiasts, military veterans and their families.
A significant number of classic car owners were in attendance once again to show off their pride and joy. With the minimal $15 registration fees going to the Mission Flight For Veterans, D&D received a huge turnout.
"This is the second year we have honored our military veterans through this event," said D&D Classic co-owner Roger James. "The response last year was phenomenal and we had our largest turnout. We expected a similar turnout this year and our expectations were met."
This year's Cruise-In once again had a presentation of the flag ceremony conducted by A.B. Cole Post 88 in Covington. Airplanes from the Word War II era performed a fly-over and missing man formation.
Fittingly, the featured car of the Cruise-In is from the World War II era, a 1938 Steyr 220 Super. This car was a factory demonstrator built in Steyr, Austria and was shipped to Berlin, Germany in 1938.
ABOUT THE MISSION FLIGHT ORGANIZATION:
Mission Flight is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices. We transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at THEIR memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill. Of all of the wars in recent memory, it was World War II that truly threatened our very existence as a nationand as a culturally diverse, free society. Now, with over one thousand World War II veterans dying each day, our time to express our thanks to these brave men and women is running out.
MISSION FLIGHT is a way of paying a small tribute to those who gave so much. A memorable, safe and rewarding TOUR OF HONOR!!
