The Founding of D&D Classic Automobile Restoration
D&D Classic Automobile Restoration was founded in 1985 by Dale Sotzing and Dave Meyers to be the premier restorer of Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and other coach built cars. Their first restoration of a 1937 Bentley Erdmann & Rossi was shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 1987 and took best in class. The pair instantly made a name for themselves in the tight-knit concours community and the business grew from a single building shop to a second and third separate buildings for a mechanics shop and final assembly building/showroom. It was always a challenge to find a plating shop to properly restore the chrome and nickel plating needed for a world class restoration, so in 1998, Dave Meyers started D&D Brightworks (now simply Brightworks) to meet all the restoration needs. Brightworks is now the go-to source for high end plating services. Roger James joined the company ownership in 1991 and brought with him his expertise in aviation restoration services. In 1999, Mark Kennison joined the company to bring his metalworking expertise and founded the D&D Design Studio. Today D&D Classic is comprised of 8 buildings and has over 45,000 Sq. Ft. under roof and has won hundreds of awards for our restorations over our 30 years of existence.
